mair_cutoutNew talent can be as bright and shiny as a ripe, well-polished apple. Anyone can count the number of seeds in that apple until its potential has been fully realized. But no one can count the number of apples in a seed. A seed has profound potential, especially when planted in fertile soil that is well watered and sun-kissed.

New artist Mair (Mary Alice), is a very talented young songwriter/singer/rapper /producer who has successfully synthesized the fertile topsoil of the very best influences of Pop, Hip Hop and Dance on her freshman project: ”Who Am I? … Mair's Untold Story” (Braat Musik/ADA/Warner Music Group), to create a new sound that can only be described as Hip Pop. Mair has the talent and potential to shatter all assumptions about what a new artist can achieve, as she delivers the soundtrack to her personal story, exposing the battles between her dynamic opposites Mary Alice and alter ego Mair.

Mair is a formidable musical force, armed with fierce fabulosity and a “take no prisoners” approach to her message of personal empowerment and self-realization for a new generation. This talented teen is a native of Vienna, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., but Mair is no Southern Belle, concerned with decorum and convention; rather, she is a thoroughly modern woman with boundless ambition and an unbending determination to buck convention as she makes bold musical statements that speak to and for her generation, as she lights a path through dark and uncertain times.

Mair is blazing a new trail with her own syncopated sound, seasoned by a heavy dose of wit and fun, accented by her mad flow, perfect pitch and considerable skills as a singer and an MC, but the road to her debut was by no means an easy one.

Mair recalls: "On the surface, I seemed to have a great life with all the elements needed to be a well-rounded person, but inside I felt like the “Ugly Duckling”- all I saw in the mirror was the skinny girl with braces and big ears. And I had something different growing inside me that I wasn't able to communicate or bring to life. So I retreated to my basement, my safe place, and created my own personal wonderland: an alternate world where I could lead a double life. I wrote poems and songs all over the walls, I marked out faces from magazines and compared myself to everyone I read about. I made home movies pretending to be famous, including a trilogy bringing the idealized world of Barbie to life.”

"I felt more confident as my alter ego, Mair, who enjoys life and thrives off of the thrill of doing something outrageous and being noticed for it. But with Mair in control, drugs, alcohol, parties and ditching school became my everyday routine. And although I was certainly popular, I now see that I was in the midst of a rampage of irresponsibility. The first major intervention was going off to military school, but ultimately my parents in desperation resorted to a rather shocking intervention. One cold November night I was awakened at my home by two burly ex-cops, who drove me, shackled, to a disciplinary wilderness boot camp program in the woods of western North Carolina where I was not a happy camper. The deaths of three friends, military school and a month in the woods helped me get my priorities straight and focus my energies in a positive direction, which led me to complete a top homeschool program, graduating with honors while launching a career in music.”

Bad Girl Mair still struggles with Mild Mannered Mary Alice. However, this struggle with her alter ego has provided Mair with a compelling platform to explore the sensitive soul within (Mary Alice) and the hot chick with an attitude (Mair), with a verbal dexterity that allows her to alter her flow, voice and her entire character from song to song as she defines who she is as an artist and a person. Mair's opportunity to really put her talent to good use came when she met Eric Kennedy, now President of Braat Musik, who recognized her potential and placed her in his Artist Development program. With Braat Musik behind her, Mair is ready and willing to take control of her life and offer her artistry to the world with the debut of her first two singles, “The Writing's On The Wall" & "Hey-Hey, That's Just Me" from her new CD: “Who Am I? … Mair's Untold Story” including the Break-Out video from her new CD: “The Writing's On The Wall.”

Finally, Mair says: “I know I'm young, but I have had my trials and tribulations and through my music and lyrics, I can speak to the common pain and confusion of growing up with cold logic and warm understanding, but still make it fun, exciting and entertaining. I want to be able to help my generation to not just look, but see, to not just hear, but listen, and to not just react, but respond, as we search for our place in this crazy world, as we find the answer to our most important question: Who Am I?”
